A Spiritual Application
Our actions often have unintended consequences. We should be aware of this and strive to foresee as many of the ramifications of our actions as possible. The key is that if we trust God and follow the path that He selects, the consequences will always work for our good.

We need to think about where our path will take us. (Proverbs 4:26)
Choices of friends, jobs, and recreational pursuits all have many consequences. (Proverbs 12:26)

God does not tell us all possible consequences. He will show us the path to take! (Psalm 37:23-25; Prov. 3:5-6)
Many unintended consequences could be foreseen. (Prov. 28:22; 10:22; 1 Timothy 6:10)
The important thing is to keep the Lord first in all that we do, and then accept whatever consequences He deems best for us. (Job 13:15)

5. The Law of Unintended Consequences can Work in Our Favor
The intentions of some to harm us may end up being a blessing (Genesis 50:20)
Satan’s intentions to harm us may work to bless us.
Personal and family tragedy may open up a better future (Job 42:12; James 5:11)
Persecution may provide opportunities to spread the gospel (Acts 8:1-4; 13:44-52)
Persecution may strengthen and purify us (1 Peter 1:6-7)

6. Unintended Consequences
Plans and actions have consequences.
If we love and trust God, all things will ultimately work together for our good. (Romans 8:28)
