3. Perth is growing – as a city, as a centre for c0mmerce, and as a key legal community. Holding ALSA Conference in Perth would allow law students to experience Perths culture and lifestyle, and gain exposure to one of the regions growing legal markets.

5. PROPOSED HOST UNIVERSITIES HOST LAW STUDENT SOCIETY ASSISTING LAW STUDENT SOCIETIES

6. University of Western Australia Proposed venue for Council, three competitions and some education/careers forums. Located on the Swan River; very close to the CBD and easily accessible by public transport. In-principle support from the UWA Law School.

7. University of Notre Dame Proposed venue for two competitions and some education/careers forums. Located in the centre of Fremantle and easily accessible by public transport. We are seeking in-principle support from the Notre Dame Law School.

8. Murdoch University Proposed venue for one competition. Easily accessible by public transport. We are seeking in-principle support from the Murdoch Law School.

9. Judges All three host LSSs have strong internal competitions programs, which are supported by university academic staff, the local legal profession and the States judiciary. Facilities All three host universities have some purpose-built competition facilities, as well as other suitable rooms. Access to Supreme, District and Commonwealth Court buildings as finals venues.

10. Venues under consideration include: Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre. Burswood Entertainment Complex. Other potential venues (and afters venues) are being considered.

12. Day Trip Options Ferry to Rottnest Island. Swan Valley wine tour. Ferry to Perth Zoo, South Perth. Amazing Race Fremantle and surrounds. Sports Day To be evaluated after Melbourne 2012.

13. Theme Nights (2) Themes: Wild Wild West/TBD. Venues TBD. Pub Crawl Fremantle area pubs. Charity Cocktail Evening See Equity and Social Justice.

14. Venue Council will be held at UWA, which has a number of spaces suitable for running Council meetings, workshops and seminars. Support Services Many UWA law students have been involved in running major student functions, including national events on campus. This experience will assist in proving high quality support to Council over the course of the Conference.

15. Australian Legal Education Forums WA is home to leading experts in a number of interesting fields, including Mining Law, Native Title, International Law and Maritime Law Ideally the 3 forums will be held at UWA (2) and Notre Dame (1) Additional forums We will consider adding additional, non-ALEF, forums to the Conference program.

16. Go West careers seminar/networking event Late afternoon/evening event designed to introduce out-of-state law students to career opportunities in Perth and WA Full Careers Fair We would prefer not to hold a full careers fair Given the resources we have access to, we would prefer to run several smaller events with a more targeted focus (e.g. skills workshops)

17. Equity breakfast This event would continue in a manner consistent with previous years. Charity Cocktail Evening To be evaluated after Melbourne 2012. Ideally, we would host this event at the University Club at UWA.

18. A number of venues are being considered. Factors being taken into account include: A preference for serviced apartment-style accommodation. Proximity to key train and bus routes. Ability to accommodate all delegates at a single venue. Cost. There are a number of facilities within the Perth CBD which should satisfy these criteria.

19. Public transport Transperth links all three host universities to proposed accommodation venues in the CBD. It is intended that delegates use Transperth services for activities held at UWA. Private transport It is intended that private buses will transport delegates to most (if not all) major social functions. It will be considered whether it is worth providing private buses to competition rounds and events held in Fremantle and Murdoch.

20. What will make this the best ALSA Conference ever? Perth is famous for being the most isolated capital city in the world, but that reputation belies our citys status as a key economic centre and a vibrant cultural hub. We want to show the regions law students all that Perth has to offer and how much weve grown. So in 2013... GO WEST
