3 Information 210 B.C. - One of the earliest findings of a necktie was in the mausoleum of China's first emperor, Shih Huang Ti. In 113 A.D. - Roman Emperor Trajan erected a marble column with figures on the column wearing three styles of neckwear. The French Word for tie, cravat, is thought to be a corruption of the word “Croat” for the Croatian mercenaries who wore silk kerchiefs around their necks.

5 The Four-in-Hand Knot Named for the coachmen that wore them in Great Britain in 1850s that held 4 reigns to the horses. Produces long, skinny, informal knot. Widely popular because of its simplicity.

6 The Windsor Knot Named after the Duke of Windsor, who liked thicker, wider knots Produces larger, more formal knots.

7 The Half-Windsor Knot A modified version of the Windsor in order to create a smaller knot, fitting narrower collars. Produces a knot between Four in Hand and Windsor suitable for a variety of occasions.
