“Before very long, a wind of hurricane force, called the Northeaster, swept down from the island. The ship was caught by the storm and could not head into the wind; so we gave way to it and were driven along. “

“Because they were afraid they would run aground on the sandbars of Syrtis, they lowered the sea anchor and let the ship be driven along.”

“When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved.”

Hillary Scarlett “Our brains are helpless prediction machines. They are consciously and subconsciously trying to guess what is going to happen to us. They want to be able to predict and make sense of the world. This stems from the brain’s drive to protect us. If the brain can predict what is about to occur then it is in a better place to guard us and keep us out of harms way. Our brains like certainty and they are distracted when we don’t have certainty.”

King Nebuchadnezzar, we do not need to defend ourselves before you in this matter. 17If we are thrown into the blazing furnace, the God we serve is able to deliver us from it, and he will deliver us from Your Majesty’s hand. But even if he does not, we want you to know, Your Majesty, that we will not serve your gods or worship the image of gold you have set up.

Steven Furtick “The bible says no weapon formed against you will prosper…it does not say no weapon will be formed against you… it does not say you will never be short on money… it does not say you won’t be tempted to compromise… it does not say everyone will like you.. but it does say none of these things will prosper in your life… God will provide a way out!”

When neither sun nor stars appeared for many days and the storm continued raging, we finally gave up all hope of being saved. 21 After they had gone a long time without food, Paul stood up before them and said: “Men, you should have taken my advice not to sail from Crete; then you would have spared yourselves this damage and loss. 22 But now I urge you to keep up your courage, because not one of you will be lost; only the ship will be destroyed. 23 Last night an angel of the God to whom I belong and whom I serve stood beside me 24 and said, ‘Do not be afraid, Paul. You must stand trial before Caesar; and God has graciously given you the lives of all who sail with you.’ 25 So keep up your courage, men, for I have faith in God that it will happen just as he told me.

But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground
But the ship struck a sandbar and ran aground. The bow stuck fast and would not move, and the stern was broken to pieces by the pounding of the surf. He (The centurion) ordered those who could swim to jump overboard first and get to land. 44 The rest were to get there on planks or on other pieces of the ship. In this way everyone reached land safely.

“Out in the sea, swimming, then I couldn't move a single muscle in my body. I used my last breath not very wisely as I simply shouted mindlessly as I sank slowly. I was panicking, I was out of control, I tried to wave my arms and my legs furiously but I was solidified, like a statue. I was still breathing pretty fast while I was sinking so I got some water in my lungs. Which seemed like an eternity to me, I was underwater and though normally I can't open my eyes in salt water, I could see the sea and the colors yet as I desperately tried to breathe, I had more and more water swallowed. I remember it burned like lava, the lungs and my stomach(they kept burning for a long time, I hardly breathed for a week) and I remember vomiting a lot while being carried, but nothing else.”
