A network diagram is a graphical tool to help you decide the sequence of tasks. You can see which tasks go first, which come second, which can be done in parallel – and which tasks must be finished before another task can begin.

3 Practice: Complete this Network Diagram by placing the tasks in the correct spaces
start START END Train Community Dig Hole Build Latrine Slab/Cap Train WASH Committee Install Latrine Slab/Cap Quality Audit Build Structure

4 Install Latrine Slab/Cap Dig Hole Build Structure
Build Latrine Slab/Cap START Quality Audit END Explain the answer – you can’t install the latrine cap before you build it etc. Ask participants where the list of tasks and activities comes from – – WBS – highlight the fact that the tools work together. You can make the link to assumptions in the logframe becoming risks in the risk register and then the mitigation activities featuring in the WBS and now you are sequencing them. Ask participants if they could organize the tasks in a different order. Ask them to give some examples – mic/text/screen. Explain that the next slide shows an example of this. Move to next slide Train WASH Committee Train Community
