3 Cymorth ar eich cyfer/Support for you
Settling in at Uni like learning to swim Dip your toe and like it and adapt straight away Dip your toe and lie it but need some support to get used to the water

4 Wrth Gyrraedd/On arrival
If you are living in Uni residences you will have access to 24/7 support 365 days of the year. Resident Tutors are on hand to give you the benefit of their experience about a range of issues If t’s something they can’t deal with they will know who to signpost you to

5 Coming to Uni you may have left your usual support networks of friends and family behind
Things may be unfamiliar We organise a range of activities during the first week to get you more familiar with your new environment and to help you make new friends/support networks Join in the clubs/societies offered by the Union – it’s a great way to make new friends Attend the Freshers’ Fair to find out more Join in the welcome activities organised by Resident Tutors

6 Tymor Cyntaf/First Term
During your first term if you’ve not managed money before you may find it hard. We have Student Advisers who can help you with a range of money issues: setting a budget; chasing up delayed funding; helping out with emergency loans or hardship funds; negotiating delayed payments with the University for accommodation/fees If your funding is delayed don’t be tempted to pay your uni accom and find yourself left with nothing – come and get advice from our student advisers first

7 Trwy’r Cwrs/Throughout the Course
It’s important that you look after yourself The temptation of all the events on offer can often lead to sleepless nights, skipped meals and an excess of alcohol Staff at our student wellness centre are on hand to advise on all those student related issues from healthy eating; safe drinking levels; sexual health clinics; maintaining your mental wellbeing. If you have a mental health issue such as a diagnosed mental health condition or depression/anxiety our counselling service and mental health adviser are available for support and advice Perhaps you are finding the transition more difficult than you thought – are feeling homesick or having relationship issues as a result of the move. Again the Counselling service at the Wellness Centre can help

8 Access Issues/Learning Support
If you have a disability/or learning difference we have a range of services to support you Help with organising an Ed Psych Assessment or other diagnosis Study Needs Assessment Centre Accessibility Advisers help arrange/co-ordinate a range of suport within the Uni: Specialsit tuition/Mentoring/ exams etc

9 Peer Support Just finding it all a bit bewildering?
Ask for a signpost mentor More experienced students that you can meet with a few times during the early part of your stay with us This can carry on for more sessions where needed

10 Care Leavers We are fully committed to supporting care leavers
commitment to Care Leavers in Higher Education • Pre-entry guidance on course choice • Access to our (free) Residential Skills Programme (including board and lodging) during year 12 or 13 (or College equivalent) • Assistance with application forms • Help and support during the application process • Help to travel to Visiting and / or Open Days, with a friendly face to accompany you on the day if wanted • Provision of a ‘Welcome Pack’ of essentials if wanted • Targeted financial support through the Care-leaver Bursary • Signpost Mentor support when you arrive – helping you to settle in from a peer mentor • Guaranteed accommodation for all undergraduate years and help to secure suitable vacation accommodation on an ongoing basis • Advice and support from the dedicated Care-leaver Support Co-ordinator throughout your time as an undergraduate, for help with academic, financial or personal welfare matters • Support for Graduation
