Present – Quick Card at the machine with experienced operator. Tryout – Person runs the machine with supervision. Follow up – Competency points are verified by supervisor and is signed by the trainee/trainer to complete the training. Steps for Retraining: Review SWI or Quick Card Verify Competency Points Complete Annual Training Requalification Form Competency Points: Tramming Empty and Loaded © Loading and Unloading Material © Pre-op / Parameter Checks © Changing Batteries if Applicable © The following safe work instructions is NOT INTENDED to replace hands on training requirements of the code of federal regulations. The intent is to provide an overview of known potential safety hazards associated with equipment operation. Hands on training with an experienced operator on each specific model must be conducted. The trainee can not proceed onto production until they are determined ready to proceed by the supervisor of the training. Before any operation or maintenance procedure is performed with or on this equipment, it is important that personnel have a complete understanding of the location and functions of all controls and indicators, as well as, the location and use of all emergency shutdown controls and procedures. Title: Shuttle Car, Ram Car, Freedom Car SAFE WORK INSTRUCTIONS KEY POINTS SAFETY PRECAUTIONS Pre-Operational Checks : Examination of work area. Scale loose roof or ribs as necessary. Check for proper identification tag, examine cable and restraining clamp. Restraining clamp at load center and on machine. Examine cable reel compartment for loose material and oil. Examine cable in it’s entirety for damage and number of splices. Check shuttle car cable anchor. Walk your intended tram roads to identify and correct hazardous conditions or violations. Ensure that ventilation controls are not damaged and are properly secured. Maintain equipment free from accumulations of combustible materials.(Coal, dust, paper, grease and oil). Test all switches, levers, lights, audible alarm, brakes, tram pedals, panic switches and emergency stops for proper operation. Make sure that the fire suppression system actuators, pins, cartridges and nozzles are intact. Check structural condition of canopy and support posts. Do not go beyond unsupported top. Ensure that the equipment is parked in a safe location prior to beginning pre-operational checks. Cable, breaker and receptacle must have matching ID tags. Ensure power is off while examining cable. Tram roads must be damp to wet to comply with the approved vent control plan. All levers shall be self centering and all switches in the off position. Fire suppression nozzles must have caps to protect the nozzles from dust and moisture. Any defects found during shuttle car checks must be corrected prior to operation of equipment

Sound audible alarm prior to moving and when approaching turns and run through checks to alert others of your intended movement. Lights must be on in the direction of travel prior to moving. Utilize light signals and radios for effective communication with co-workers. When parking equipment make sure that the equipment is parked a minimum of fifteen feet from curtains and is not blocking walkways or does not interfere with ventilation. Ensure that equipment is not parked on cables or water lines. Set emergency brakes prior to exiting equipment. Keep all body parts inside the confines of the operators compartment at all times. Ensure that all persons are in the clear prior to starting or tramming. When approaching a remote control miner ensure that all persons are in the clear and aware of your approach. If a loading machine is utilized avoid contact with the loading machine. Maintain three points of contact when entering or exiting equipment. Boom must be lowered to its lowest position prior to exiting. Equipment must be de-energized prior to exiting. If a cable is struck by the equipment the cable must be de-energized prior to exiting the equipment.
