6 Coming together to share food with neighbours and wider communities provides not only the opportunity to connect but events such as these lay the foundations for future friendships and support networks

8 The annual get-together for neighbours, celebrating what we have in common and connecting with others sharing food friendship and fun Bringing people together to celebrate connections, explore diversity AND CREATE a better future for people across the commonwealth

9 “Commonwealth Big Lunches offer wonderful opportunities for people of all ages to bring our Commonwealth family alive in new ways as we work” The Secretary-General of the Commonwealth, Patricia Scotland Today sees 2000 attendees from the four Summit forums – Youth, Women, People and Business – come together to share food and friendship and celebrate their commonwealth connections with a Commonwealth Big Lunch. , Ghana kicked off the Commonwealth Big Lunches with an event hosted at Konkonuru School attended by 400 school children and local leaders. We’ve seen events in almost every Commonwealth Country so far: 45 of the 53 nations officially registered to take part Over 600 lunches are planned in Commonwealth countries so far Around the same number again are being planned in the wider world with over 130 countries worldwide registered Hundreds of lunches taken part already from schools and community groups to presidential residences and embassies across the Commonwealth
