2 Service Coverage Extension
Purpose STAtions (STAs) experience high path loss in 60 GHz band, and hence, the short transmission range might be a major drawback. We recognize that new strategies are required of consideration since the existing technologies are not suitable for the 60 GHz band wireless environment, where directional transmission and reception technologies are necessary. More Considerations for Service Coverage Extension It is required to modify the existing technologies, including mesh network, WDS, and ad hoc network. Exclusive relays are useful to extend the service coverage. Stations’ cooperation contributes to the service coverage extension. Sunggeun Jin (ETRI)

3 Suggested Text for Functional Requirement Document Draft
TGad stations extend their service coverage by the help of either neighbour stations or dedicated equipments when the stations experience difficulty against frame transmissions. [Req01] The TGad devices extend their service coverage either with the cooperation of neighboring stations or by exclusive equipments. Sunggeun Jin (ETRI)

4 doc.: IEEE /xxxxr0 Month Year July 2009 Straw Poll Straw Poll In order to extend short range due to inherent 60GHz band characteristic, the presented “Service Coverage Extension” (IEEE /0769) should be considered in TGad. Sunggeun Jin (ETRI) VInko Erceg, Broadcom

5 doc.: IEEE /xxxxr0 Month Year July 2009 Straw Poll Straw Poll To approve that new requirement [Req01] for “Service Coverage Extension” is included in TGad Functional Requirements document (IEEE /0228r3) Sunggeun Jin (ETRI) VInko Erceg, Broadcom
