802.11 Assigned Numbers Authority (ANA)
July 2011 Assigned Numbers Authority (ANA) The ANA is Adrian Stephens The purpose of the ANA is to ensure we have no conflicts for numbers between parallel developments. Such a conflict has the potential to create interoperability problems. The ANA Process: Request by TG Editor (or TG chair) to ANA ANA checks for conflicts with TG Editors ANA issues revised spreadsheet showing any changes Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation

ANA - 2 The latest database is 11-11/0270r6 (July 2011)
Changes since last meeting: TGmb changes (mainly releasing resources no longer used in REVmb D9) TGaa dot11Groups and dot11Compliances changes resulting from 11MEC TGad changes resulting from 11MEC Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation

July 2011 Balloting Each WG letter ballot sequence (i.e., task group) has its own voting pool set to the voting members of at the time the ballot first reaches 75% approval. I get asked all the time “should I vote on this ballot” The answer is “go check the voters list published with each and every ballot”. There’s a link on the home page during the ballot. Use only the template spreadsheet upload to submit comments The voting tool supports other options – don’t use them We need this to collect additional data, e.g. “must be satisfied” per comment. (new) Use only plain text in the comments spreadsheet Some voters are using fonts or embedded graphics in the spreadsheet These do not survive compilation into a comments database Use your Secret Member ID Ask Adrian for your number if you’ve lost it Using the wrong voters ID can overwrite the votes of other members. Every ballot a few people vote using their SA-Pin, or some other inexplicable number. At worst they vote using the wrong ID, a different address, and a new variant of their name. Recording Attendance Record attendance using this URL:
May 2011 doc.: IEEE /0051r2 July 2011 Recording Attendance It is a requirement that attendees register, in order that a correct record of attendees and their disclosed affiliations can be recorded in the minutes. You must record 75% attendance of eligible slots in a session for that session to count towards gaining or maintaining voting membership You need a single IEEE-SA web account The IEEE SA web account requires a working address do not remove your address from the account Use the address associated with that web account when registering attendance If you change addresses, update the web account, don’t create a new web account, or your membership status may not be calculated properly Record attendance using this URL: Click the “802.11” attendance link on the left hand side Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation

July 2011 Synchronizing while at the meeting Particularly important when external bandwidth is limited and unreliable Use anonymous ftp Host: ftp://newton.events.ieee.org User: anonymous Password: <your- -address-here> Destination directory: /802.11/10 Freeware tools are available, for example search for “syncback free” ** ** Other tools are available. The IEEE does not endorse the use of any particular tool. Adrian Stephens, Intel Corporation
