Cavendish School has been working with John since 1998 in the development of P-Scale assessment.

Whole data using Durham University Data base CEM school
Their use is embedded into our practice. As we were one of the first schools to adopt them for summative assessment we are very comfortable in the way we use them. They are used in two ways: · To provide Senior Managers and the Government with data on individual, cohort and whole school pupil progress. · To provide information to assist teachers in differentiating lessons through Individual Learning Targets (in English, Mathematics and Science). Performance descriptions in English The following are descriptions of pupils' performance that indicate the emergence of skills, knowledge and understanding in English. Speaking and listening P4 Pupils repeat, copy and imitate between 10 and 20 single words, signs or phrases or use a repertoire of objects of reference or symbols. They use single words, signs and symbols for familiar objects, for example, cup, biscuit, and to communicate about events and feelings, for example, likes and dislikes. They respond appropriately to simple requests which contain one key word, sign or symbol in familiar situations, for example, 'Get your coat' 'Stand up' or 'Clap your hands'. They show an understanding of names of familiar objects.

When the Agency arrived we were in the process of applying for Specialist School Status in cognition and learning. To receive the status (and the money to go with it) we completed the King of all Kings form. We shared this with our visitors including the 180 whole school targets! And the P-Scale data that would provide the 1,400 targets required for the students!

In April 2007 we could not give an answer to that question. But we believed passionately in our pedagogy, which is based on accelerated learning techniques and multiple intelligence theory. The cognition and learning bit of our bid.
