Because it is a natural source and man made source that is directly released into the atmosphere.

eye and skin irritation
Headaches

6. One environmental effect:
Methane’s warming effect is 21 times greater than that of carbon dioxide

7. Prevent or reduce Methane:
eat less red meat: if the consumption of red meat is limited, there will be fewer cows contributing to methane emissions
Interior department: expected to propose standards this spring that would reduce methane leaks from oil and gas wells
