When starting the deerhunt on the first day of the season, Betty noticed that the odometer on her SUV read 28,947 miles. at the end of the day it read miles. How many miles did she drive that day?

2 Articles of Confederation
States were eager to govern themselves However, there were some things that they could do alone Raise and maintain a large army For this reason and other the Second Continental Congress made plans for a unified group of states.

3 Articles of Confederation
In 1777 they laid out their plans in the Articles of Confederation Confederation- a group of individual states that join together for a common purpose. This system created a “league of friendship” among independent states.

4 Set up for this new government
One house legislature Had control over: Army and dealings with foreign countries Had limited power.

5 Weaknesses of the Articles
Power and Money Central Power Rules to ridged Congress had no power to collect taxes Congress had no power to regulate trade Congress had no power to enforce its laws No single leader or group to direct government policy No national court system existed Congress could not pass laws without the approval of 9 states The articles could not be changed without the approval of all 13 states
