2 Figure 1 Striking a Balance in Host-Ebola Virus Interaction
Ebola virus VP35 is a dsRNA-binding protein and an essential cofactor of the viral polymerase complex, which also contains NP and L proteins. In this context, VP35 functions to facilitate viral RNA synthesis and replication. On the other hand, VP35 is an interferon-antagonizing protein that counteracts PACT and RIG-I to inhibit the activation of interferon production. Ebola virus suppression of PACT by VP35 comes at the cost of having VP35’s activity in viral replication inhibited by PACT. Cell Host & Microbe  , 5-6DOI: ( /j.chom ) Copyright © 2013 Elsevier Inc.
