1 BEHAVIOR OF GASES Textbook pp

2 TEMPERATURE Temperature is a measure of how fast the particles in an object are moving. The faster the particles are moving, the more energy they have.

3 VOLUME Volume is the amount of space that an object takes up.
The volume of a gas depends on the container the gas is in.

4 PRESSURE Pressure is the number of times the particles of a gas hit the inside of the container.

5 GAS LAWS Boyle’s Law: For a fixed amount of gas at a constant temperature, the volume of the gas increases as its pressure decreases Marshmallow in syringe demo. Vacuum pump demo.

6 GAS LAWS (cont) Charles’ Law:
For a fixed amount of gas at a constant pressure, the volume increases as the temperature increases

7 Use PTV ruler to help solve gas law problems
