1 Local Water Supply Plan Summary
Overall Goal: to enhance the welfare of Yadkin-Pee Dee residents by jointly planning for the sustainable use of water from the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin Project Purpose: first step in joint planning pull together and put into larger context individual members’ Local Water Supply Plans maps and summary document will provide “big picture” perspective on the region’s water supply issues identify key issues the group may want to investigate further for regional water supply planning and coordination of drought response prepare for the State’s upcoming Yadkin River Basin planning process.

2 Data Included in Summary
Local Water Supply Plans Union County IBT Modeling Input – Duke Energy Progress Union County IBT Modeling Input – other withdrawals and discharges Other Withdrawals registered with DWR

3 90 Local Water Systems LWSP Status System 2016 2016 Prov. 2015 2013

4 System Centroids (>90; includes groundwater systems)

5 Surface Water Intakes

6 Water Supply Summary Based on regular purchases:
13 independent systems (blue) 9 groups of systems (orange)

7 Duke Energy Net Withdrawals
Data are from Union County IBT water supply analysis documents, generated in 2013 based on 2010 Duke Energy planning documents. Updates may result in changes, especially for the Blewitt Falls and Lake Tillery projected power plant projections (likely lower). Planning updates are a major undertaking and can take 1-2 years.

8 Summary of Withdrawals and Flows: LWSPs plus Duke Energy

9 Union County Interbasin Transfer Process – Modeling Data
Data collected in 2013 Spreadsheets provided by Union County (HDR) Updated data inserted for: LWSPs 2015 data from DWR for registered industrial users > 1 mgd (2 industries) Other data included (not updated) Agricultural withdrawals Industrial withdrawals (not registered with DWR) Returns

10 Summary Union County Modeling Data with LWSP and DWR Updates

11 IBT Modeling Input w/Updates –
NET Withdrawal 2016: 81 mgd 2060: 209 mgd
