1. Sun-moon Lake
Sun Moon Lake is located in Nantou county, which is in the central Taiwan and is admired as bright pearl of Taiwan. And it is the largest natural lake in the Taiwan islands. The lake is parted to two sections by Lalu islands. Interestingly, the eastern part of the lake is formed likethe sun and the western side is shaped like a crescent moon, which is why people call it “Sun Moon Lake”.
Sun-moon Lake is one of the Puli basin group, and it is the only basin of the group to store water. The basin group was formed from the folding landscape, and faulting and eroding effects on the original area of the Puli group.

2. Sun-moon Lake
The island is the middle of the lake, Lalu Island, is a sacred site where the Shao people(one of the plains aboriginal tribes) worship their ancestors. Actually, the island was originally the habitat of the people, and was renamed Jade Island and Kuang-hua Island during the period of the Japanses occupation and the Kuamingtang government.
Besides, many attractions arounds the lakes can have a beautiful view of the combination of defined levels of mountains and water scenery.

3. Sun-moon Lake
And basically, the lake viewing sites around the lake also can offer an abundant history trip. The famous sites are Wen-wu Temple, Siuan-Jhuang Temple, Cih-wun pagoda and so on. Wen-wu Temple was built in 1938 for Worshiping Confucius, the Military Saint of Guan-gong. And the temple is located in the shoulder of the northern mountain lake. Siuan-Jhuang Temple is located on the other mountain-side of the lake, against Wen-wu Temple, and built in 1965 to the house the relics of a great scholar-monk of the Tand Dynasty, Siuan-Jhuang, who made a pilgrimage to the India in search of authentic scriptures of Buddhism between the years 629 and 645.
