2 Delegated powers Powers only the national government has

3 Expressed powers Powers stated directly in the Constitution

4 Implied powers Powers required to carry out expressed constitutional powers. Ex. Draft for military.

5 Elastic clause Gives Congress right to make laws that are necessary and proper.

6 Inherent powers Powers government may exercise because it’s a government. Ex. Immigration.

7 Reserved powers  Powers that belong to the states

8 Supremacy clause States that all federal laws should be above state laws.

9 Concurrent powers Powers that both the state and federal government possess. Ex. Power to tax

10 Enabling Act first step for Union admission of a new state.

11 Bureaucracy Organization of government workers.

12 Extradite To send a fugitive back to the place where the crime was committed.
