Advance Family Planning (AFP) is an advocacy initiative of the Bill and Melinda Gates Institute for Population and Reproductive Health and the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health implemented in nine countries It aims to improve funding and policy environment and to galvanize political commitment needed to ensure access to a full choice of family planning services and information This is attained through collective efforts- working with likeminded partners to build consensus- mostly targeting decision makers using a unique approach- AFP SMART Strategy

Implemented by Reproductive Health Uganda and Partners in Population and Development Africa Region Office (PPDARO) Working at both national and at districts – currently working in 13 districts Achievements: 13 Quick Wins Establishment of the Alternative Distribution Strategy Passing of the guidelines on Cost sharing FP budgeting tracking increasing expenditure Honoring of the Government FP2020 Commitments The Establishment of the National Population Council Scrapping taxation on Contraceptive Districts Prioritise and allocate funds for FP
