2 Luke 19:41-44 41 Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it, 42 saying, "If you had known, even you, especially in this your day, the things that make for your peace! But now they are hidden from your eyes. 43 For days will come upon you when your enemies will build an embankment around you, surround you and close you in on every side, 44 and level you, and your children within you, to the ground; and they will not leave in you one stone upon another, because you did not know the time of your visitation."

3 Luke 19:45-48 45 Then He went into the temple and began to drive out those who bought and sold in it, 46 saying to them, "It is written, 'My house is a house of prayer,' but you have made it a 'den of thieves.' " 47 And He was teaching daily in the temple. But the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him, 48 and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to hear Him.

4 Jesus Wept When we hear the words, “Jesus Wept” most think about John 11:35 – at Lazarus' tomb. In our text, Jesus wept over the city of Jerusalem. Here is what Jesus did with Jerusalem. We ought to follow His example.

5 Came Near – 41a Now as He drew near,
Get close to the community, involved Know the people, needs, ways to help Know their concerns and worries Who might be interested “Drill where there is oil.”

6 Saw – 41a Now as He drew near, He saw the city
Open your eyes to what is right and wrong Saw / Behold – more than look at Sometimes we look, but don't see Saw / Behold = look intently, look deeply

7 Wept – 41b Now as He drew near, He saw the city and wept over it.
Jesus wept over a friend – John 11:35 Here Jesus is weeping over a city becuase of the deplorable spritual conditions WHICH TROUBLES YOU MORE – A SCRATCH ON YOUR CAR OR SOULS LOST FOR ETERNITY?

" This is the second time – see John 2:13-17 They turned religion into a racket They made the sacred into a ripoff

10 Taught – 47a 47 And He was teaching daily in the temple.
Teaching others is to be done : Daily In the temple Personal and Public how I kept back nothing that was helpful, but proclaimed it to you, and taught you publicly and from house to house, Acts 20:20

11 Was Hated – 47b-48 But the chief priests, the scribes, and the leaders of the people sought to destroy Him, 48 and were unable to do anything; for all the people were very attentive to hear Him. Several groups hated him – chief priests, scribes, Pharisees, Saducees, lawyers They plotted to kill him What held them back?

What held them back? The people paid attention to Jesus And the common people heard Him gladly. Mark 12:37b
