2 Figure 1 Network between Circulating and Local Renin-Angiotensin Systems in Kidney, Adrenal Gland, Adipose Tissue, Vessels, and Brain Renin is a circulating enzyme hormone that generates Ang II and thereby regulates blood pressure and volume homeostasis. Local renin-angiotensin systems have now been described for the brain, for the adrenal gland, within the kidney, within the blood vessel wall, and within adipose tissues.
