3 OVC-HEV: 𝑨𝑬𝑹 π‘ͺπ’Šπ’•π’š : β€žMeasurementβ€œ versus β€žCalculation” Idea: AER city calculation for OVC-HEV according to PEV calculation scheme (Β§ and Β§ of Annex 8) In the Subgroup EV meeting in Brussels (June 2015), there were simulation results presented which showed that the approach and the idea are working in the case that the considered vehicle has the first engine start by driving the charge-depleting Type 1 test at the SoC minimum of the REESS averaged weighted measured Weighted Matthias NΓ€geli

4 OVC-HEV: 𝑨𝑬𝑹 π‘ͺπ’Šπ’•π’š : β€žMeasurementβ€œ versus β€žCalculation” Concerns: AER city calculation for OVC-HEV according to PEV calculation scheme (Β§ and Β§ of Annex 8) Requirement on the 𝑨𝑬𝑹 π’„π’Šπ’•π’š calculation scheme for OVC-HEV: The calculation scheme has to work in each and every occurring case Comparison of the city cycle test and of the whole cycle test 1. Determination of 𝐴𝐸𝑅 𝑐𝑖𝑑𝑦 via city cycle test: engine start which determines 𝐴𝐸𝑅 𝑐𝑖𝑑𝑦 is SoC-triggered 2. Determination of AER city via whole cycle test: The load collective of the whole cycle test is different to the city cycle test There may be engine starts in the test which would not occur in the city cycle test Concern It’s impossible for the technical authority (without knowing the vehicle strategy) to identify which engine start in the whole cycle test corresponds to the SoC-triggered engine start of the city cycle test (but the quality of the engine start is essential for the UBE determination which is required for the AER city calculation via the whole cycle test) Consequence It’s hard to determine the correct UBE for the AER city calculation from the whole cycle test Matthias NΓ€geli

5 OVC-HEV: 𝑨𝑬𝑹 π‘ͺπ’Šπ’•π’š : β€žMeasurementβ€œ versus β€žCalculation” Discussed solution in the Subgroup EV meeting in Brussels: AER city calculation for OVC-HEV according to PEV calculation scheme (Β§ /Β§ of Annex 8) via worst case approach For the AER city determination, the manufacturer shall be allowed to either determine this value by driving the city cycle test or to calculate the AER city value by using the worst case UBE value - determined by the first engine start in the whole cycle test (the determined UBE value will always be worst case and never be a best case value) Matthias NΓ€geli
