1. Herpes Zoster

2. Introduction This condition causes a lot of pain.
The rash is very sensitive, even to the touch of clothing.
Facial H.zoster can be treated by way of creams, etc.
Shingles in other areas is more exposed to touch and injury and needs to be protected.

4. Managing the rash
To protect the area against touch or injury, use a double layer of tissue paper.
Cover the rash with the paper and apply a sheet of Opsite (or even “Cling” or unperforated “Glad Wrap” plastic, available at various supermarkets) over the tissue paper, or
The tissue paper can be held in place with strips of Micropore.
The Opsite works best.

This dressing can be removed when most sensitivity has passed,
Or when the condition has apparently healed.
If applied early, it does not need to be changed.
Follow up and inspection can be decided on by the doctor.
