Matthew 28:16-20 “Then the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain where Jesus had told them to go. 17 When they saw him, they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

1 Corinthians 13:12 “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.”

So What?

So What? 1. Faith is a Gift

Romans 12:3 “For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.”

Mark 9:24 “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!”

So What? 1. Faith is a Gift 2. Faith is a Risk

“and yet risk, as we have seen, is indispensable, to any significant life. Nowhere more clearly than in the life of the Spirit. The goal of faith is not to create a set of immutable, rationalized, precisely defined and dependable beliefs to preserve forever. It is to recover a relationship with God. He offers a person and a relationship, we want rules and a format. He offers us security through risk, and we want safety through certainty. He offers us unity and community, we want unanimity and institution. And it does no good to point fingers, because none of us desires too much life. All of us want God to behave Himself in our lives, to touch this area, leave that one alone. To empower us here, but let us run things ourselves over here.” -Dan Taylor, “The Myth of Certainty”

Matthew 14:28-33 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”  “Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?” And when they climbed into the boat, the wind died down. 33 Then those who were in the boat worshiped him, saying, “Truly you are the Son of God.”
