2 DILMA ROUSSEFF Rousseff came to the power as the 36th President of Brazil in Rousseff became the first democratically elected female president in the world to be impeached and removed. On 31 August 2016, the Senate voted to impeach, finding Rousseff guilty of breaking budgetary laws and removing her from office.

3 Economic Policies of Rousseff
Rousseff was expected to be against privatization and neoliberalism; however ???

4 Bolsa Familia ??? «Basic civil rights should be recognized within the civil legal framework.» Rousseff opposes the legalization of illegal drugs. "Brazil will continue to grow, with social inclusion and mobility."

5 Petrobras Scandal Petrobras formed in 1953 as Brazil’s national oil company, is one of Latin America’s largest companies. Cardoso privatized party of the company in the 1990s; whereas, Lula da Silva steadily restored state control of the company during his eight year. The PT and its coalition partners appointed their own candidates to Petrobras’ most important executive positions. Investigators suspect the scheme was part of a project of power to keep the PT and its allies in government by using funds from Petrobras to pay off the ruling coalitions and fund election campaigns. The PT denies such claims by saying all its election campaigns were funded legally.

6 What is President Dilma Rousseff’s involvement?
President Rousseff has not been accused of any crime. Rousseff as chairman of Petrobras between 2003 and 2010, when much of the corruption allegedly took place. The opposition alleges her presidential election campaigns of 2010 and 2014 were funded by corruption, charges the PT denies. On 12 May 2016, the Senate began the judicial process of impeachment. On August 31 the Senate voted 61–20 to convict Rousseff and permanently remove her from office. Temer became the president in Brazil until January 2019.

7 Trade Brazil is the 21st largest export economy in the world.
In 2016, Brazil exported $182B and imported $135B, resulting in a positive trade balance of $46.4B. The top exports of Brazil are Soybeans, Iron Ore, Raw Sugar, Crude Petroleum and Poultry Meat (to China, the United States, Argentina, the Netherlands and Germany). The top imports are Refined Petroleum, Vehicle Parts, Packaged Medicaments, Telephones and Crude Petroleum (from the United States, China, Germany, Argentina and France).

8 Industry Brazil has the third-largest manufacturing sector in the Americas. Accounting for 28.5 percent of GDP, Brazil's industries range from automobiles, steel and petrochemicals to computers, aircraft, and consumer durables. The Brazilian government has undertaken an ambitious program to reduce dependence on imported petroleum. Brazil is one of the world's leading producers of hydroelectric power, with a current capacity of about 260,000 megawatts. Existing hydroelectric power provides 90% of the nation's electricity.
