Presentation on theme: "Pituitary fossa lateral (coned)"— Presentation transcript:

1 Pituitary fossa lateral (coned)
Position as for the lateral skull Central ray directed perpendicular to bucky and centered at a point 2.5 cm above and 2.5 cm in front of the EAM Collimate the beam appropriately

2 SMV 1 Facing the tube and slightly away from the vertical bucky, The neck is extended as far as possible to bring the vertex of the skull in contact with the bucky Median plane perpendicular & Base line parallel to bucky Centre in midline at the level of EAMM, perpendicular to bucky

3 SMV 2 The patient’s shoulders are raised on pillows and the neck hyper -extended to bring the vertex of the skull in contact with the table. Median plane perpendicular & Base line parallel to bucky Centre in midline at the level of EAMM, perpendicular to bucky

4 Base of the skull (SubMento-Vertical) - SMV
If sitting, facing the tube and slightly away from the vertical bucky. The neck is extended as far as possible to bring the vertex of the skull in contact with the bucky If lying down, the patient’s shoulders are raised on pillows and the neck hyper -extended to bring the vertex of the skull in contact with the table. Median plane perpendicular & Base line parallel to bucky Centre in midline at the level of EAMM, perpendicular to bucky

5 SMV Heads of the mandibular condyles projected clear of the petrous portions of the temporal bones. The foraminae of the middle cranial fossa are seen symmetrically either side of the midline Sphenoid sinus in midline Symmetrical petrous pyramids.

6 Radiographic Appearance
Heads of the mandibular condyles projected clear of the petrous portions of the temporal bones. The foraminae of the middle cranial fossa are seen symmetrically either side of the midline Sphenoid sinus in midline Symmetrical petrous pyramids.
