3 Role of the President as respects the Program
The President is the point person for their club’s claims Officers of club receive mailings with information on the insurance program – rates, coverage changes, etc. Share information – provide resources to club members involved in fund raising events

4 Why Presidents need to know about the Program
To save money / clubs don’t need to purchase duplicate coverage Claims – Clubs are not on their own; claims (and incidents) should be turned over to the insurance company to handle To save time – clubs can quickly obtain a certificate of insurance / access information about the Program Resources available may help a club reduce or avoid a claim – Loss control, contract provisions, etc.

5 The Program consists of the following insurance:
General Liability (GL) Directors’ & Officers’ / Employment Practices Liability (D&O / EPL) General Liability insurance (“GL” insurance). This has been provided through RI for over 16 years, since July 1st, 2001. Proof of insurance or a certificate of insurance evidencing GL insurance is oftentimes required to receive permission to hold or participate in an event or activity. Example: Rotary club organizes a fundraiser. During this fundraising event, an attendee trips and falls and injures himself. In many cases, the injured person will file a claim or a suit against the Rotary club for this occurrence. Directors’ & Officers’ and Employment Practices Liability Insurance, known as “D&O/EPL” or just “D&O” insurance. This has been provided through RI since January 1st, Before, several Clubs and Districts were purchasing this type of insurance on their own. Because most insurance questions relate to Club and District events and activities, GL insurance is the focus of this presentation All other coverages must be purchased locally

6 Most Common GL Claims Experienced:
Tripping over an obstacle such as cord, curb, or other objects Slip & Falls (Bodily Injury) To the venue used for an event (damage to walls or the floor) Property Damage
