3 Database Options EBSCO Discovery Services Bloom’s Literature
Can be used for ALL classes (including ENG141 – Comp II) Search through online databases for e-books, peer-reviewed journal articles, newspaper articles, and 1000's of periodicals. Bloom’s Literature Specifically for literature classes – Comp II, Women’s Lit, British Lit, American Lit, etc. This resource contains more than 20,000 critical essays from over 500 literary journals and 2,300 scholarly and critical books, including 700 titles published by Bloom's Literary Criticism and Facts On File. Also included in the database are more than 13,000 biographies, 45,000 character entries, 5,000 synopses of literary works and hundreds of images and videos. Gale Interactive Human Anatomy For all science/med/nursing classes that include human anatomy Engaging, interactive models bring science to life, allowing students to better visualize and understand human anatomy, supporting university coursework. Students and instructors can manipulate and explore 3D models that are paired with reference and periodical content for further understanding.

4 Database Access All databases require that you log into them using your NETWORK LOG IN Your NETWORK LOG IN is what you use to get onto the computers on campus & your college User Name: (first initial, last name) Password: (whatever you made up) If you don’t know this information, come to the library & we can help you out!

5 Searching the Databases
EBSCO Discovery Services Ask the librarian a question Search physical items in the library View available publication titles Use this search box just as you would when performing a Google search. Keep in mind: The more specific your search sting, the fewer results you will get Try to search using broad terms to start i.e. use “learning disorders” before using “teaching children with Dysgraphia” Available journals by title Search String: A string refers to a sequence of characters, words, or other elements that are connected to each other in some way. A search string usually refers to a string of words or a phrase that is used to search and locate or retrieve a specific piece of information contained in a database or a set of documents. from
