2 INCIDENCE OF ZIKV IN TRINIDAD & TOBAGO
February 2016: T&T recorded its first case of ZIKV February 2017: 718 cases of ZIKV 4 births with CZS 2 cases of ZIKV associated GBS Ministry of Health estimated: 400,000 to 1,000,000 persons were affected by ZIKV T&T’s Annual Birth Rate: 18,000 Potentially 5,400-14,400 pregnant women contracting ZIKV Need to mention in audio that only pregnant women were being tested.

3 KNOWLEDGE & PREVENTION IN T&T
Knowledge of ZIKV (98%) and its link to causing fetal brain abnormalities (including CZS). T&T population possessed good awareness (87%) on the issue of sexual transmission. 74.5% (n=298) of T&T population’s displayed positive attitudes on ZIKV prevention . Only 33% of our respondents were willing to utilize condoms to prevent ZIKV infection. Just mention that MOH had an basic education program in 2015.

4 OPINIONS TO TERMINATION OF PREGNANCY IN T&T
In T&T, it is illegal to terminate a pregnancy, except in case of threat to the life or health of the pregnant woman. Over 50% of respondents would like to be given the option of terminating a CZS-affected pregnancy.

5 CONCLUSION Impact - 5,400 to 14,400 fetuses may have been exposed
Knowledge gap exists with utilizing barrier contraceptives during the ZIKV epidemic. Participants want the option to terminate a ZIKV-affected pregnancy. Interventions should be more targeted in improving the knowledge and attitudes of the public based on these findings. (i) delaying a pregnancy – not mentioned anywhere else?
