Big idea: Ottoman art visually conveys the unity and diversity of a group of people through visual language. Inspired by this idea, we will create works of art that reflect the diverse communities teachers live in. Teachers will sketch details inspired by their neighborhood on squares (working from memory or using images searches on their phone/laptop). In small groups teachers will share the details they sketched (and what inspired them). Next they will use both their own and others' details to create a patterned design reflecting the diversity and unity of NYC.
