8 Education The process of training and developing knowledge is referred to as education. Education determines the level at which an individual enters a career.

9 Education Individuals must view education as a life-long process that produces long-term benefits.

10 Benefits of education include:

11 Levels of a formal education
Level of education refers to the number of years and degrees of formal education completed by an individual. Some jobs require individuals with college degrees, specialized trades training while others require no specific level of education.

Less than high school High school Post-secondary Associate/Specialty Military Baccalaureate Graduate degree

13 Continuing education Continuing education is the education an individual obtains throughout his or her lifetime. Success and advancement on the job are often directly related to the amount of continuing education an employee receives. Continuing education provides benefits to both employees and employers.

14 Employee benefits include:
Enables workers to stay up-to-date Allows employees to be cross-trained

15 Employer benefits are:
Better trained employees More productive employees Worker satisfaction

16 Continuing education sources include:
Workshops and seminars Local, state, and national meetings Such meetings also provide excellent networking possibilities. Networking is the interaction of workers who hold similar jobs but for different organizations. Reading of journals, newsletters, and magazines

17 How and where is education obtained for a career?
Formal education is learning in a school setting. Continuing education may be offered through a school or another organization.

18 SAE’s Supervised Agricultural Experience (SAE) refers to the application of class instruction in agriculture outside of the classroom.

19 There are four types of SAE’s.
