3 Jesus Predicts His Death
21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples that he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things at the hands of the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law, and that he must be killed and on the third day be raised to life. 22 Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. “Never, Lord!” he said. “This shall never happen to you!” 23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”

4 18"And I tell you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it.” - Peter changes from a stone to a σκάνδαλον stumbling block. - The closeness of evil to the church

5 The Battle we Face 1. The battle of good intensions.
2. The problem with human intellect. 3. Man’s propensity to avoid hardship.

6 What does this mean?? A. The presence of evil could be in our midst when we least expect it. B. Your best advice could be your worst. C. Satan can work through all kinds of good intensions like compassion.

7 Our Response 1. Living a spirit filled life. (Gal. 5:16)
2. Pray on the Armor of God. (Eph. 6: 10-18) 3. Weigh everything on scripture. (Eph. 1:17; Col. 1: 9)
