3 Review of Pending Action Points from last Meeting
• National IMO: Post approved minutes from last meeting to HR- Info. الموظف الوطني لادارة المعلومات: ليرفع محضر الاجتماع المصادق عليه الى الموقع الشبكي معلومات الاستجابة الانسانية. • Pending Action Points to be followed up on next meeting نقاط نشاط معلقة الى الاجتماع المقبل • NRC to confirm possibility to have replace submersible pump at 50th settlement in Bzebiz, and to address the need for the water tanks and latrines and showers. المنظمة النرويجية لتوكد امكانية تبديل المضخة الغاطسة في المخيم الخمسين في بزيبز ولتعالج الاحتياج لخزانات الماء والتواليتات والحمامات. • . Review of Pending Action Points from last Meeting RI and QRC have been advised to go ahead in their plan in technical support by UNICEF (IMO) NRC will provide fuel for Anbar after 15 Apr, while RIRP/WSC has been providing till 15 Apr, to operate WTUs. All partners: UNICEF/ Cluster advised partners to include Cholera prevention messages (those which were earlier approved by MoH) to be included within Hygiene promotion campaigns. Water Trucking Partners: UNICEF/cluster advised that key partners working in water trucking (RIRP, RI, NRC) to focus on monitoring water quality in coordination with WSCs/the cluster and logistic support from UNICEF

4 WASH Cluster Cholera Preparedness update
May 2017 The joint National plan for cholera preparedness and response in 2017 has been published, Joint Lessons Learnt Matrix on Cholera in Iraq will be published. Bob Bongomin-our new roving WASH cluster coordinator who will be mainly responsible for Cholera preparedness and response activities. The possibility of getting cholera outbreak this year is exist, in particular in the new retaken areas in Ninewa, Salah Addin and Kirkuk with damaged infrastructures.  The national cholera taskforce reactivated since early of April, and expected the taskforce at governorate levels to be reactivated/established.  Two cholera preparedness meeting conducted in Baghdad and Erbil and participated from the relevant stakeholders from WASH and Health. 

5 Process and Milestones
To provide coordinated and informed source of information for prevention and control of cholera outbreaks, preparedness, response and recovery – including integration with regular programmes All UN clusters/sections and partners (government, I/NGOs, UN, CSO) working in cholera prevention, preparedness and response. March: Finalization of Iraq Health and WASH Cluster ACUTE Diarrheal Disease (including Cholera) Preparedness and Response Plan April: Activation of National Level Cholera Preparedness and Response- Baghdad April: Activation of operational level Cholera Preparedness and Response- Erbil April/May: Consultative process with clusters of Health, Nutrition, Education, C4D, MoH, DoW. On going: Collection and analysis of existing guidelines, tools and resources for cholera. Cholera Preparedness and Response plan, Joint Lessons Learned Matrix 2015 etc Purpose Audience Process and milestones

6 DEVELOPMENT (routine) programming focus
Approach Reduced deaths and suffering related to cholera RESPONSE (Minimising deaths, limiting scale of outbreak) PREPAREDNESS (Being ready so when cholera happens responses are more effective) PREVENTION (Preventing cholera from occurring) Multi-stage approach to cholera: Coordinated Preparedness, Prevention and Response EMERGENCY programming focus Investment towards reduction (elimination) of cholera should be done from different angles. From the development side through including cholera considerations within the ‘regular’ programmes (PREVENTION) to reduce the risks of cholera and preventing it from occurring at all… Also to improve capacities for an overall management of cholera among the different relevant sectors (Health, WASH, Communication, etc.) PREPAREDNESS, specially for cholera endemic/at risk countries, to undertake specific cholera related activities to improve capacities to respond to cholera in all different aspects in case a response is needed (health, WASH, communications, supplies, resource mobilization). RESPONSE, Improved action for better treatment and limiting/reducing the spread of the disease.
