7 Future Information Flow

8 Architecture Consists of a transaction broker, an enterprise data warehouse and several customized data marts Architecture will be based on standard data warehousing products: ETL (Extract/Transform/Load) BI (Business Intelligence) DBMS (database management system) Utilize Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products in all possible cases ARCHITECTURE TRS is and will continue to be hosted on the TWAI. At a high logical level, TRS will consist of a Transaction Reporting Engine (aka “Transaction Broker”), an enterprise data warehouse, and several customized data marts. TRS architecture will be based on standard data warehousing products such as an ETL tool (Extract, Transform, and Load), a BI tool (Business Intelligence), and robust database management systems. The ETL tool will house the business rules and data cleansing processes enabling the warehouse and the marts to be properly populated with incoming data. ETL will also greatly facilitate the outbound reporting from TRS. The BI tool will enable online reporting in the data marts as well as additional features such as On Line Analytical Processing (OLAP). The preferred approach for TRS is to utilize Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) products in all possible cases. In limited cases where custom code is required, TRS will employ J2EE.
