Husbands, wives & children must understand their God-given roles in the family, & fulfill those roles. They must understand how their roles relate to everyone else’s role. They must do that “in the fear of God” (out of reverence for God, Christ).

Children submitting to their parents by receiving their instruction & discipline in an honorable way.

7 Accountability in a family – Eph 5:22 – 6:4
Parents submitting to their children by meeting their instructional & disciplinary needs.

Husbands submitting to their wives by being attentive to their physical & emotional needs in a tender & loving way.

9 Accountability in a family – Eph 5:22 - 6:4
Wives submitting to their husbands by graciously lining up under their authority or guidance.

Know what your role is, & fulfill that role to the best of your ability. Understand how your role relates to everyone else’s role (e.g., Heb 13:17). Do that “in the fear of God” (out of reverence for God, Christ).

Humble: to make low (1 Pet 5:5-6; contrast: Titus 3:9-11). Teachable: willing to listen & alter our point of view. Approachable: easy & enjoyable to talk to. Honest: committed to the truth, esp. as it relates to ourselves. EXAMPLE (Acts 18:24-28)

13 Accountability: Purpose
IT’S GOOD FOR US (1 Thess 5:14-15). Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 It sharpens our character (Prov 27:17). It fosters teamwork in…Lord’s work (Eph 4:11-16).
