4 Proper attitudes toward Opportunity

5 Some wrong uses made of opportunity
Opportunity may be abused Saul - 1 Samuel 9-10; 15; 31:3-7 Judas Iscariot - Matthew 26:16; Luke 22:6; Matthew 27:3-10 Opportunity may be snubbed The Jews at Antioch of Pisidia – Acts 13:44-46 Unbelieving Jews in Corinth – Acts 18:5-6 Felix – Acts 24:25 Agrippa – Acts 26:28 Consequences for slighting opportunity – Proverbs 1:24-31

6 proper uses made of opportunity
Opportunity is to be sought Philip the evangelist – Acts 8:26-29 Certain Greeks – John 12:20-21 Cornelius – Acts 10 Opportunity is to be admitted Lydia and those of her household – Acts 16:13-15 Philippian jailor and those of his household – Acts 16:30-34

7 Why opportunities are not admitted
See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, 16 redeeming the time, because the days are evil. 17 Therefore do not be unwise, but understand what the will of the Lord is. Eph 5:15-17 (NKJV)  … for they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. John 12:43 (NKJV) But I will tarry in Ephesus until Pentecost. 9 For a great and effective door has opened to me, and there are many adversaries. 1 Cor 16:8-9 (NKJV) Do you not say, 'There are still four months and then comes the harvest'? Behold, I say to you, lift up your eyes and look at the fields, for they are already white for harvest! John 4:35 (NKJV)

8 opportunities most desirable
Furthermore, when I came to Troas to preach Christ's gospel, and a door was opened to me by the Lord, 13 I had no rest in my spirit, because I did not find Titus my brother; but taking my leave of them, I departed for Macedonia. 2 Cor 2:12-13 (NKJV) Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving; 3 meanwhile praying also for us, that God would open to us a door for the word, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in chains, 4 that I may make it manifest, as I ought to speak. Col 4:2-4 (NKJV) Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all, especially to those who are of the household of faith. Gal 6:10 (NKJV)

9 The Proper attitude toward Opportunity
Christ has offered a wonderful opportunity in overcoming sin and death! We must not abuse it. We must not slight it. We must take advantage by our obedience to the Words of Life! Seek opportunity to do the Lord’s will and to help our fellow man, as we are authorized and able to do so.
