Since the british had lost almost all of it’s troops and won the battle, they decided to pull out and move on. John burgoyne led saratoga for the british, the Americans were led by Benedict Arnold and Horatio gates, they eliminated lots of british and hessian forces. It was also when the Americans got help from the french.

4 Main points On september 28, Washington had completely encircled Cornwallis and Yorktown. Cornwallis surrendered to Washington on october 17, 1781. Cornwallis did not attend the formal surrender ceremony , held on october instead his second in command, general charles o’harra, carried cornwallis’ sword to the American and french commanders.
