Four of these subjects were not counted as having ‘pneumococcal community-acquired pneumonia (CAP)’, because of a positive Legionella urinary antigen test result or Escherichia coli bacteraemia at the same time. One subject was diagnosed as having pneumococcal CAP by a positive pleural fluid culture only.
