2 Purpose of Planning Committee
Identify air quality issues that have a direct impact on western states Ensure western concerns are considered in the national debate

3 Representation Two co-chairs serve 2-year staggered terms
Chair who bows out is replaced every May by a representative of a different state Participation on monthly calls is high National Park Service and U.S. Forest Service representatives participate in calls to enhance coordination Board Liaison position with committee is currently open (Volunteers?)

4 Current Activities Monthly Conference Calls (1st Thursday of the month) Priority Issues Reconsideration of Ozone NAAQS Designation and implementation issues with all new NAAQS, including boundary delineation for new planning areas Pollutant transport issues including regional ozone planning and §110(a)(2)(D) SIPs Exceptional Events Rule Implementation for Ozone & PM10 PM2.5 NAAQS Emission Factors for planning after PM10 Surrogate Policy Oil & Gas air quality impacts, particularly in rural areas Tracking Regional Haze Plan development, submittal & approval
