5 Play a facilitation role to enable cross-area and cross-Whitehall collaborative working
Act as a core strategic contact point for energy issues for LEPs and LAs Undertake direct action to build capacity and support delivery at the local level BEIS Local Energy team In 2015 DECC ran a pilot project to support local delivery of EU ERDF. DECC worked with local partners to design an innovative Local Partnerships Pilot to support them to invest ERDF in energy and climate change activities that linked to DECC’s own objectives, and national targets. The Pilot was successful in providing evidence for future local delivery support to increase low carbon investment. Three key future roles were identified for BEIS. There are now five Local Partnership Managers working with local areas: LEPs, local authorities and communities, to identify and deliver local energy projects they want to develop.
