1 Thaddeus Sholto By Harry B, Harry F, Sam Rayner, Ben Hawks

2 Nervous “He writhed his hands together as he stood, and his features were in a perpetual jerk” The use of the verb ‘writhed’ shows that Thaddeus had his hands together nervously, and doesn’t really know what to do. ‘Perpetual jerk’ shows how he is always fidgeting and he cant stop. This is shown in chapter 4 where Sherlock, Watson and Miss Morstan arrive at his house to find out were the treasure is only to find that it was Bartholomew's house were he had been murdered. Thaddeus looked shocked and speechless, then is arrested by Athelney Jones.

3 Eccentric “Two great tiger-skins thrown athwart it increased the suggestion of Eastern luxury, as did a huge hookah which stood upon a mat in the corner. A lamp in the fashion of a silver dove was hung from an almost invisible golden wire in the centre of the room.” We know that Thaddeus Sholto is a very eccentric character his house is full of eccentric goods from India “two great tiger skins” tiger skins aren't a very normal thing to have in London because not many people would have gone out of the country.

4 Hypochondriac “He was clearly a confirmed hypochondriac, and I was dreamily conscious that he was pouring forth interminable trains of symptoms...” He thinks he’s always ill he shows this when he says “confirmed hypochondriac” Conan Doyle use of the word confirmed shows that it is definite. Also he says interminable this suggests it is never ending, if its not one thing its another.
