2 IMPORTANT TO KNOW At least 24 credits needed to graduate
When dropping or adding classes, verify needed graduation requirements with your counselor Do NOT make a change to your senior schedule after you have submitted college applications! (If you do, it is YOUR RESPONSIBILITY to notify the colleges of the changes) IMPORTANT TO KNOW

3 SERVICE LEARNING REQUIREMENT
Service Hour Requirement: 36 HHS Youth Service Learning Coordinator is Mrs. Van Caster Document hours at GetNVolved.com Hours must be completed at the time of application for: - Early Graduation - Merit Card Final Deadline for Service Hours is April 15, 2019.

4 APPLYING TO FOUR-YEAR COLLEGES
Apply online and pay application fee Prepare ahead of time! - Enrolled courses, clubs and activities, service learning, employment - Essay - Possible letters of recommendation – form in Counseling Office - ACT scores (must be sent from the ACT website) - Transcripts: After submitting application, log on to careercruising.com to request that transcripts be sent to colleges The student is responsible for follow-up with all needed items

National College Fair - September 30 (3:00-6:00pm) Wisconsin Center, Milwaukee, WI - For more information and to register, visit Wisconsin Education Fair – September 25 (6:00-8:00pm) UW-Fox Valley, Menasha, WI - For additional venues: *You must pre-register for both Fairs!

Apply online and pay application fee - Fox Valley Technical College: - Other WI Technical Colleges: Log on to careercruising.com to send transcripts

8 Tech College Open Houses
Fox Valley Technical College (Appleton Campus) Tuesday, October 2 (3:00-7:00PM) Apply for admission during Open House, and they will waive the $30 application fee! Highlights: Talk to students & faculty, have your transcript reviewed, tour the Tech Village student housing complex, FREE food & prizes Info Sessions: How to Choose a Degree How to Pay for College Northeast Wisconsin Technical College Thursday, October 11 (3:00-6:00PM) Apply for FREE Test for FREE Apply for financial aid (bring 2017 tax returns)- they will help you!

Career Cruising (careercruising.com) - Complete interest inventories - Research careers - Explore colleges and universities in Wisconsin and the U.S. - Create a resume - Send transcripts to colleges

11 TESTING ACT Score Report and test dates
- to send official score report to schools - Next test date for ACT: October 27 (Registration deadline September 28) December 8 (Registration deadline November 2) Technical Colleges - Accuplacer: and enter “Accuplacer” in the search box. Registration and practice tests will be available at this site - ACT may be used in place of the Accuplacer. Military – ASVAB - Will be offered at HHS on February 6 - Sign up in the School Counseling Office

12 FAFSA Parent Night- September 24 at 6:30pm in the HHS Auditorium
FINANCIAL AID (FAFSA) (free application) - Application available October 1. You will be filing for the school year with income taxes. College Goal Wisconsin (collegegoalwi.org) - FVTC: Wednesday, October 3 at 6:00pm - UW Oshkosh: Thursday, November 8 at 6:00pm FAFSA Parent Night- September 24 at 6:30pm in the HHS Auditorium

13 SCHOLARSHIPS A list of scholarships is updated weekly (see bulletin board by the counseling office) or visit the counseling website Local Scholarship Application deadline is February 28, 2019 Check with Employers and Community Organizations Lots of free scholarship searches online but Watch for SCAMS! If in doubt, see your counselor. There should not be an application fee for a scholarship.

14 SENIOR YEAR OPTIONS Early College Credit Program (ECCP) or Start College Now (formerly known as “Youth Options”) Application deadline is October 1 for the spring semester This is a state deadline- no exceptions! ECCP: UW System Colleges Start College Now: Fox Valley Technical College *THESE ARE COLLEGE-LEVEL COURSES

Early Graduation: Application deadline is: December 1 – no exceptions! - Required: letter from employer stating full-time work OR college / military start date letter Early Release or Late Start (2nd semester only) * Must be passing classes and have no disciplinary action from 1st semester!

School-to-Career Program: - See Ms. Grenzer - Instructional/employment program - Students develop and strengthen skills, attitudes, and knowledge in the work place - Up to 2 periods of work release Apprenticeships: Students interested in doing an apprenticeship should sign up the summer before their senior year, but adult apprenticeships are available- see Ms. Grenzer for more information
