5 Triangle – figure formed by three segments joining three noncollinear points

6 Types of triangles Based on number of congruent sides.
Scalene – no sides congruent Isosceles – at least two sides congruent Equilateral – all sides congruent Classified by their angles Acute – 3 acute angles Obtuse – 1 obtuse angle can you have a triangle with 2 obtuse angles? Right – 1 right angle Equiangular – all angles are congruent If a triangle is equiangular it is also equilateral.

7 Theorem The sum of the measures of the angles of a triangle is 180.
Corollary (def. Statements that follow directly from a theorem and be easily proven using the theorem) -If 2 angles of one triangle are congruent to two angles of another triangle, then the third angles are congruent -Each angle of an equiangular triangle has measure of 60 -In a triangle, there can be at most one right angle or obtuse angle -The acute angles of a right triangle are complementary

8 Interior angles and Exterior angles
Remote Interior angles

9 Remote Interior angles are the 2 angles that are furthest away from the specified exterior angle.

10 Theorem The measure of an exterior angle of a triangle equals the sum of the measures of the two remote interior angles
