1 Final Project Menu Ancient Egypt

2 Mummification MAKE YOUR OWN MUMMY: Create a mummy using any materials (newspapers, etc.) to create the the preserved body. Be sure that the mummy is also in a sarcophagus that is appropriately painted. Next, create a story about the person who is mummified. Include who he/she was, where he/she lived, the people he/she knew, and the life he/she lived. Remember that mummies were rulers and ranked very high in society. Make this is story historical fiction loaded with facts. The story should be 5 paragraphs, include details, and show an understanding of Egyptian society. Story = 25 points Mummy = 25 points Individual

3 Interview with a Pharoah
A filmed interview with 3 important Egyptian rulers (ex, Queen Hatshepsut, Thutmose III, and Ramses II). The interview must demonstrate that you have learned 10 or more important facts about each ruler. The program can be a documentary, a news program, or a talk show (may include audience questions) The rulers must be in proper attire. A typed final script in must also be submitted. Up to 4 people can do this project. Each person will be graded individually and must hand in their research and script. Script = 25 points Interview = 25 points

4 Build a pyramid CREATE A REALLY SPECTACULAR PYRAMID:
Build the pyramid, decorate the pyramid, and show the actual tomb inside the pyramid. Create a written explanation of the pharaoh who was buried in this particular tomb and include his/her life accomplishments as well as the amount of time it took to construct the pyramid. This can be a fictional or real-life pharaoh, but be sure to include information on his life, battles, years of rule, family and historical significance. The story can be submitted through google docs or slides. This is a 1 to 2 person project. Each person will get up to 50 points, with 30 points given for the pyramid and 20 for the story. If 2 people are working on this, think about having smaller pyramids in the complex for members of the family

5 You wouldn’t want to be…..
A DAY IN THE LIFE OF 3 ANCIENT EGYPTIAN CHILDREN: Create a story or three stories following three different Egyptian children: one whose family fits into the lowest part of ancient Egypt’s social pyramid, one whose family fits in the middle part of the social hierarchy, and one whose family fits on the top of the social hierarchy. The story can be in 3 parts ( for each individual) or it can be 1 story of how the 3 lives are intertwined in a typical Egyptian day. Each child’s story should be 3-5 paragraphs explaing their daily activities. Follow a day in their lives from they wake in the morning to when they go to sleep at night. You may do a puppet show, a skit, a storybook, a slide show, or a video to present this. 1 to 3 people, up to 50 points each. 25 points = presentation points = story

6 Egyptian Wall Art 1 - 2 people, 50 points each
Create a Wall Relief using Egyptian artwork. Remember that the ancient Egyptians carved or painted their art into the walls and pillars . There must be a minimum of 6 carvings on each wall. Styrofoam works great for this! Look at examples of this artwork, particularly the images of people. This should include prayers, cartouches, a pharoah’s bragging of a victorious battle, etc. Your written portion (in final draft form) should take us on a tour of this relief explaining everything carved into the wall as though it is a museum piece. Every part should be explained 1 - 2 people, 50 points each 30 points = carving points = story.

7 Next Top Chef Create a collage of ancient Egyptian food and drink. Include pictures of fruits, vegetables, beverages, breads, and meats consumed at the time. Attach written descriptions of the foods and include recipes, as well as explanations of why the Egyptians consumed these types of foods, when it was eaten, and which members of society would have eaten it. You can even prepare a dish to display (or feed) the class! Writing and recipes = 25 points Display and presentation = 25 points This is individual project. Be sure to include examples of foods from each of the food types listed above.

8 Shall We Play a Game? Make a game that takes the players on a journey through Ancient Egypt. You will create a game the reviews all of the information that we have learned about Ancient Egypt. You must create at least 30 questions and answers for your game board. The questions can range in amount of questions per topic but must include all of the following areas: 1. Geography, 2. Social Classes (hierarchy), 3. Pharaohs and government, 4. Science and technology, 5. Daily Life (jobs, people, etc) Write directions and rules for your game so other people can play it. Have a game board, playing pieces, and interesting visuals. Game board = 25 points Questions/research = 25 points

9 Timeline Create a 3D timeline of ancient Egypt. On this timeline, place important events, rulers, achievements, invasions, kingdoms, and dynasties. Include an explanation of each item and the importance of each item on the timeline. The timeline should be interactive and allow readers to learn about items on the timeline by clicking on an item or opening a part of the timeline and reading about it. This is an individual project. It should include 30 visuals and written pieces. It can be on a compueter or hand drawn.

10 Dig sites Create a display of at least 5 archeological finds (per person) from a site. Items could be the precious items belonging to a queen, every day items from the campsite of a gang of pyramid builders, or the creative wares of a merchant. Each piece should include a typed explanation of each item and its use and significance in daily Egyptian life. Items can be made from any materials including paper, clay, beads, etc, as long as they reflect real artifacts. This project can be 1 to 4 people. Each person is responsible for 5 items, at 50 points per exhibit. 25 points = artifacts 25 points = written explanation
