15 Shawna’s black hair fell behind her head as she took the hair-tye that had been tugging at her head all day out and it fell to the floor behind her. Looking in the mirror she couldn’t understand why tears were welling up behind her eyes. ‘Push it out. Hold it in. What’s wrong with you?’ Shawna took one last look in the mirror and picked her toothbrush out of the red cup that she shared with her four siblings. Each one was brand new, always a bittersweet occasion because it was clean but hard and the new one left her gums sore. As the bristles of the toothbrush passed over her gums, she felt a tinge of guilt with each motion. Example….
