3 Inequalities Learning Goal
Students will be able to extend their knowledge of equations to include solving and graphing inequalities on a number line. Students will be able to solve real world problems involving equations and inequalities.

4 Today, my learning target is to…
Write one-step equations to represent relationships between variables and describe how the pattern of change shows up in a table, a graph, or an equation Use tables, graphs, and equations to answer questions

5 MY PROGRESS CHART Before we start the Learning Target Lesson, think about the Learning Target for today…. How much prior knowledge do you have regarding that goal? Chart your prior knowledge using your pre-target score icon.

8 Getting Reading for Problem 3.1
What variables do you think are involved in planning for the amusement-park trip? Possible answers: number of people on the tour, admission costs, food costs, cost of rides, amount of time riders can spend at the park, weather. How are those variables related to each other? Possible answers: The costs for admission, food, and rides are related to the number of people. The costs for food and rides are related to the time spent at the park. The weather is related to the amount of time spent at the park.

15 While you work, think about….
What are the variables involved in this relationship? time, distance When you made your table, how did you find the distance for a given time? I multiplied 50 mph by the time. How can you state this as a rule? Start with, “The distance is equal to”. The distance is equal to 50 times the time traveled. To write this as an equation, you need to choose letters for the variables. What letters do you want to use? d for distance, t for time How can you write your rule as an equation? d = 50t

19 Today, I achieved my learning target by…
Writing one-step equations to represent relationships between variables and describe how the pattern of change shows up in a table, a graph, or an equation Using tables, graphs, and equations to answer questions

20 MY PROGRESS CHART After the completion of the Learning Target, think about the Learning Target for today…. How much has your understanding of the Learning Target changed? Did your understand increase or decrease? Chart your current knowledge using your Post-target score icon.
