5 Safety Treat all guns loaded at all times
Do not move any rifles under ANY circumstances Ear protection! You are responsible for your actions! In case of problems, do not manipulate. Apply safety catch, raise your hand and wait for assistance “1” only after command “Watch & Shoot” Always “S” BEFORE lowering rifle No mobile phone on range No non-shooters beyond red line

6 Admin Who has not yet read Range Order?
Who has not yet signed Indemnity Form?

7 Flags and Warning Signs

8 Procedure and Commands
Always follow the Range Officer’s commands: Before shooting: 1. “LOAD”: insert magazine, DO NOT yet cock the rifle! 2. “READY”: Cock rifle 3. “WATCH & SHOOT”: Release safety catch, fire After or during shooting: 1. “HOLD YOUR FIRE”: Immediately cease fire and apply safety catch 2. “UNLOAD”: Remove Magazine and remove cartridge (if necessary). DO NOT YET STAND UP! 3. “CLEAR”: Stand up and check your targets

9 Position Rule #1: Be comfortable
Natural relaxed position that avoids muscle fatigue No tension! Natural point of aim! Leave all your belongings behind (keys, mobile etc.) Body & barrel form one line Legs spread apart (3 point) Non-firing hand on stock (keep away from cartridge ejector opening!)

10 Sight Alignment Align target Front sight Rear sight
Target needs to “sit on table” (NOT center!) Ring around front sight must be equal Keep rifle vertical!

11 Common Aiming Errors A: Distance between eye and rear sight is too far: Shots scattered around target B: Rear sight too low: Shots above target C: Rear sight too high: Shots below target D: Rear sight left or right: Shots left or right of target E: Rifle is not vertical: Shots left or right below target

12 How to become a Marksman
Check your position and find “natural point of aim” Once found the NPA, don’t change your body position Avoid any tension or muscle fatigue Check your alignment between target and sights Prevent trigger jerking (squeeze a lemon instead) Natural breathing pause at about 25% exhalation Try to look after the bullet Concentration is key! (double ear protection) Head should be as upright as possible Avoid eye strain

13 How to become a Marksman
Slight movements of the sights is normal. Timing is key! Don’t tension your muscles in anticipation of recoil Use the middle of the pad of last digit Pull trigger straight backwards Find trigger point, hold your breath, squeeze the lemon and look after the bullet Don’t be afraid to repeat (if no time-pressure): Release trigger, move your eye to green grass, relax your hand, breath normally, start over
