3 Let the light of Christ shine in our lives
Gather The Lord be with you And also with you Let the light of Christ shine in our lives

4 Receive Then the Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron in the night, and said, ‘Rise up, go away from my people, both you and the Israelites! Go, worship the Lord, as you said. Take your flocks and your herds, as you said, and be gone. And bring a blessing on me too!’ The Egyptians urged the people to hasten their departure from the land, for they said, ‘We shall all be dead.’ From the book of Exodus, chapter 12, verses 31 to 34

5 Engage The people of Israel were slaves in Egypt. In the book of Exodus we read about the account of how Moses confronted the Pharaoh and eventually the Israelites were allowed to leave. The Pharaoh then changed his mind and his army chased after the fleeing Israelites. The people of Israel were saved when the waters of the sea drew back so they could pass and then the waters crashed back and destroyed the Egyptian army.

6 Engage Video suggestion … Parliament and government – an overview
Some discussion ideas … What are the ways that we can challenge people in authority, in the UK today, if we think that something about the way they are leading is wrong? Discussion techniques - Go back to the Bible passage ask “How does the theme link with the Bible passage?” Discuss the question in pairs for 30 seconds then invite a response from each pair. Use quick-fire answers e.g. throw a soft bean bag / toy to a student, when they answer they throw it back and you quickly throw to another student. Simplify the question - Invite quick one-word answers, write them on the board, then reflect on the answers – see connections. Activity suggestion … Find out how the UK parliament works. Who is your Member of Parliament (MP) for the place where you live?

7 Respond Amen We pray for all people who have to flee from oppression.
[Reflect for a minute on the worship theme and our engagement …] We pray for all people who have to flee from oppression. May people learn how to live in peace, to create good laws and sort out differences without fighting. Amen Prayer / reflection technique – Give a summary of the theme and any responses that students may have made, then invite everyone to be still (remind no books open etc – lessen distraction). To pray or reflect on today’s worship. Be quiet for one minute. Then say the prayer …
