1 PowerChart Enhanced View
Physician’s Quick Access

2 Purpose and Objectives
Purpose: The purpose of this tutorial is to provide physician staff with a high level overview of the key features of eKiDs PowerChart Enhanced View. In this brief lesson you will learn how to: - Log in the eKiDs PowerChart Enhanced View Look up a patient and open their chart Establish a Patient/Provider Relationship Navigate the patient chart tabs to view and filter clinical data Change the search criteria to review results displays

3 Access to eKiDs PowerChart
Steps to Log in to PowerChart: Enter your unique User Name Enter your confidential Password Click the OK button This action will display the Organizer. It will appear blank until you have saved a Patient List to default as your initial display. Contact the Information Services Help Desk for assistance.

4 Access to eKiDs PowerChart
Important Note: The first time you login, you will then be prompted to change your password. When changing your password, be sure to enter a mix of characters, numbers and letters to make a strong password. All passwords must contain at least one number.

5 PowerChart Organizer Enhanced View
The Organizer serves as the desktop for PowerChart. From here you can find a patient and open their chart to view visit or demographic information. It will appear blank if you have not established any Patient Lists.

6 PowerChart Enhanced Patient List View
The Patient List view will default as your desktop and will display patients that match the criteria used to create your list, such as inpatients.

7 PowerChart Organizer Toolbar
Button Function Description Find Patient Button - Activates the Patient Look Up window for the entry of search criteria of 3,3 , MRN or FIN #. Change User Button – Suspends the application, will display a Change User log in screen for a different user to sign into to PowerChart. If you have a chart open, the new user will open to that chart. Suspend Application Button – Suspends the application; will require the user to reenter their password to return to viewing the selected patient’s chart. Exit Button – Allows you to Exit PowerChart Launch Clinical Calculator – Opens a calculator that provides access to various formulas Print Button – used to print the current window.

8 Patient Search & Selection
To search for a patient, you can either select the patient search icon and enter the search criteria to locate the target patient or you can type in the patient’s name in the available name search box. This action will display the patients that best match the search criteria entered. The most direct search for a patient in PowerChart is the known Medical Record Number (MRN). You can also search for a patient by Financial Number (FIN) or partial name search such as first 3 letters of the last name and the first 3 letters of the first name, separated by a comma (i.e.; for Char Trainer, enter tra,cha).

9 Patient Selection Enter the search criteria to look up the target patient. A list of patients that match the criteria entered will display in a split screen. The bottom portion of the screen will display the visit related information on the highlighted patient. It is important to carefully select the correct visit. You can click the preview button to review the patient’s information before opening the chart

10 Establishing a Relationship
If you do not have an established relationship with the selected patient, you will be prompted to identify your relationship when you first access the chart. As a physician you can establish a Visit Relationship which expires several days after the visit is discharged or a Lifetime Relationship such as a Primary Care Provider, which will only expire if you inactivate it yourself. From the Patient/Provider Relationship (PPR) Summary tab under the Patient Information tab you can assign yourself a lifetime relationship to the patient whose chart you open.

11 Create a Relationship Steps to establish a Lifetime or Visit Relationship: Open the target patient’s chart Click on the Patient Information tab Select the PPR Summary tab Right click in the PPR Summary tab and select either Create Lifetime PPR or Create Visit PPR to open the dialog box Complete the displayed dialog box with provider, relationship to assign and date and time if different than current time. You can also select the Relationships menu at the top of the screen and choose the Create Lifetime PPR or Create Visit PPR to activate the dialog box.

12 About Relationships… When you select a patient, you will be prompted to establish a relationship. Carefully select the current role you have with the patient when establishing your relationship from the displayed list. 13 Opening the Patient’s Chart
1 2 4 3 Important Reminder: You must establish a relationship with a patient before you can open their chart! 1. Patient Demographic Bar – will display the patient’s name, sex, financial number, medical record number (EMR), location and allergy information. The location and allergy display are links, when selected will provide additional information. 2. Chart Tabs – will default patient data in a variety of formats such as orders, documents, recent results, lab as well as patient information and chart summary. 3. Clinical Categories Navigator– will provide the ability to filter the existing order clinical categories to view by selecting or deselecting items. If entered, will display allergy and problem list information. You can expand or collapse this view. 4. Existing Orders Profile – will display categories of orders and occurrences as well as detailed information about the order and it’s current status. You can expand or collapse this view.

14 Patient Chart Tabs Orders
The Orders tab provides a view of the patient’s existing orders. From this tab you have the ability to filter the view of existing order categories. You can also select a past visit to view orders entered during a specific visit encounter. Chart Summary The Chart Summary tab provides a “snapshot” of the selected patient’s chart displaying listed Problems, Ht, Wt, Reason for Visit, Allergy, Isolation, Critical labs and Continuous Infusions Patient Information The Patient Information tab displays high-level data about the patient relative to demographic information and additional patient identifiers such as medical record or social security numbers. This tab has sub-tabs that display additional information. Recent Results Recent Results tab provides flowsheet views that display all recent clinical information recorded for a patient including results from laboratory or radiology tests. Lab The Lab tab provides a flowsheet view of the patient’s results; you can filter by available categories and view information in a group, table or list format.

Radiology The Radiology tab provides result information you can filter by available categories using the navigator view or information in a group, table or list format. Summary Documents The Summary Documents tab provides access to view summary documents such as operative reports or H&P in a variety of viewing options such as by date, status or type. All Documents The All Documents tab provides access to view all result documents such as visit notes, procedures and H&P in a variety of viewing options such as by date, status or type. Form Browser The Form Browser tab window displays a directory tree of completed forms for the selected patient. You can open a form to view the information in the same format used to capture it. Overview The Overview tab provides a listing of all encounters, medications, procedure, documents ,orders and results for the selected patient. This tab can be date and time stamped to indicate the last time the user reviews the information. Once time-stamped, the data will be clearer.

16 Orders Tab – current visit
The Orders tab provides viewing access of all entered orders and can be filtered by order profile categories by selecting the items to display. This tab also provides access to enter orders for staff that have completed order entry training classes. Physician staff will have inquiry access to view orders from current and past visits.

Steps to access Previous Orders: Double click on the Location hyperlink to display the patient’s visit list Double click on the visit list and select the designated visit Click the down arrow on the filters display and select the All Orders option Click the Refresh button to refresh your view

18 Chart Summary Tab The Chart Summary tab is a convenient view of different aspects of patient information displayed in one window. Its primary purpose is to encapsulate information for a quick summary. This view consists of multiple panes, each displaying an aspect of the chart such as Problems/Diagnosis, Height & Weight, Critical Labs and Continuous Infusions.

19 Common Tab Features The Recent Results , Lab, Radiology and Documents tabs have the following common features. You can right click on Date/Time bar to Change Search Criteria or Set to Today. You can select the ellipsis button to conduct a Procedure Selection search. You can use the directional arrows located on both sides of the screen to view more result data.

20 Recent Results Tab The Recent Results tab automatically defaults a “quick view” of combined results within a 72 hour window. This view will display 48 hours of past results and look 24 hours in the future.

21 Lab Tab The Lab tab will default the flowsheet to display laboratory results in various formats. Result information will be displayed based on the criteria you select. The default is the Last 250 Results. To display the Result Legend click on the Options menu.

22 Change Flowsheet Colors
The default colors can be adjusted to set each result level display in a different color. If you want Critical result to display in Red and the Positive result to display in Purple you can customize the properties of your flowsheet display. Steps to Customize Result Legend Colors: Click on the Options menu 2. Select Properties option 3. Click on the Display tab 4. Click on the Result Color you want to change to open the color palette 5. Select the “new” color and click OK 6. Repeat steps to change another result color.

23 Graphing Results Steps to Graph Results:
Select categories on the displayed flowsheet Click on the Graph button located on the toolbar Select the applicable button to Combine, Copy or Print the selected results.

24 Radiology Tab The Radiology tab will default the flowsheet to radiology results.

25 Summary Documents Tab The Documents tab will display results in a flowsheet format that can be filtered and displayed by type, status, date, performed by or encounter.

26 All Documents Tab The Documents tab will display results in a flowsheet format that can be filtered and displayed by type, status, date, performed by or encounter.

27 Overview Tab Last Date & Time Stamp The Overview tab provides physicians with a consolidated view of the selected patient’s clinical activity in a variety of category sections. Each section can be filtered to include specific data in each category section.

28 Security Considerations
Your username is assigned to you by the IS Department. Usernames can be similar, but they are never the same. Passwords must be at least eight characters in length and must include at least one number. The strongest passwords use a mix of letters, numbers and special characters. Be sure to make it something you can recall. Your username and password make up your electronic signature! 29 Logging Out To prevent others from using your electronic signature, you must sign off the system once you have completed the use of the system. There are 3 options you can use to log out! Click on “Task Menu” and choose the Exit option. Click on Exit icon. Click the “X” in the upper right corner of the screen.
