IECQ System value creation International standards
Standardized schemes with single scheme owner owner Consistent worldwide & recognized results Recognised as a “world’s best practice” The IECQ creates value not only through its use of international standards, but also because it constitutes a standardized conformity assessment scheme with a single scheme owner. The importance of these two features should not be underestimated. A standardized scheme means common operational rules and methodologies. A single scheme owner means that these common rules are applied consistently. IECQ ensures consistent application of operational rules through peer assessment. Consistent application of the rules ensures worldwide consistency of the conformity assessment results. All of this combines to create confidence in the results, which leads to their being recognized internationally. For all of these reasons, the IECQ methodology is considered to be a world’s best practice, and the IECQ regularly receives requests from various sectors of industry to create new services addressed specifically to their needs. IECQ System a value proposition Manufacturers Suppliers Governments
General Public IECQ offers a variety of certification schemes, including supplier qualification, with each scheme being tuned to the specific needs of a different sector. These various schemes exist because specific sectors asked IECQ to create them. The greatest degree of value is created for those who use the schemes directly. But value is also created directly, or through a flow-down effect, for a much wider set of stakeholders. Because of the value it creates, the IECQ solution is a value proposition for manufacturers of electronic goods; for suppliers of components and services to electronic goods manufacturers; for governments and the general public, and for developing countries. IECQ System a value proposition Benefits to Manufacturers
Many suppliers From all over the world All to be qualified Auditing each supplier is difficult & expensive Simply require IECQ certification The value created by IECQ is highest for those who use the schemes directly, namely, the electronic goods manufacturers and their suppliers. After all, it is they who requested that the schemes be created in the first place. The fabrication of an electronic product typically requires hundreds of parts. Many of those parts in turn require special production processes that are often outsourced. An electronic goods manufacturer therefore often works with a large number of suppliers who can be located anywhere in the world. To ensure a reliable production at their own facilities, manufacturers must use reliable suppliers. To ensure that suppliers are reliable, manufacturers must perform time-consuming and resource-heavy audits as well as frequent surveillance of all their suppliers throughout the world. The alternative is to use IECQ supplier qualification. IECQ supplier certification is an economic supplier-qualification tool for manufacturers which provides a consistent measurement framework allowing comparison between suppliers, and the choice of a supplier based on other criteria, such as price and delivery. No auditing by manufacturer Save time and costs Consistent comparable results IEC e-Learning module M /11

Comply with regulations using single IECQ certification Lower supplier qualification costs & complications Qualify as supplier to defence contractors Manufacturers themselves must also comply with government regulations in various countries as well as with the varying requirements of their different customers. In many cases, being IECQ certified eliminates the need for multiple, and essentially duplicate, audits. It also largely eliminates the need to prepare multiple dossiers to justify essentially identical requirements but for different customers. For example, justification of compliance to RoHS, WEE or REACH, for hazardous substances, can be achieved with a single IECQ certificate. Or, to cite another example, different defence contractors may require proof from a specific manufacturer that their electronic goods contain no substandard or counterfeit components that could reduce the quality, performance or endurance of the equipment. An IECQ certificate provides such proof. IEC e-Learning module M /11

Many customers From all over the world You need to be qualified by all Being audited by each manufacturer is long, difficult & expensive Simply obtain IECQ certification The value created by IECQ is highest for those who use the schemes directly, namely, the electronic goods manufacturers and their suppliers. After all, it is they who requested that the schemes be created in the first place. Suppliers of electronic parts and components often supply to many different manufacturers of electronic goods, who can be located anywhere in the world. But to achieve qualification as a supplier to each manufacturer, they may have to undergo an audit and regular surveillance by each of those manufacturers. This can be very time-consuming and resource-heavy and distracts the attention of the supplier from its core business activity of fabricating parts. IECQ supplier certification can replace all of these multiple audits, and therefore constitutes an efficient and economic qualification tool for suppliers. It also creates a level playing field for suppliers around the world due to the consistency of its method and the worldwide recognition it enjoys. Only one auditing entity Consistent comparable audits Recognised worldwide IEC e-Learning module M /11

IECQ System a value proposition Benefits to Suppliers
Suppliers can qualify their sub-suppliers Save time and lower costs No duplicate testing The suppliers of components and parts for electronic goods often themselves use multiple suppliers of sub-parts and special production processes. Such suppliers therefore become customers themselves and then require their suppliers to have IECQ certification. This is much more efficient and cheaper than to audit all of their suppliers individually. Can concentrate on their core business IEC e-Learning module M /11

Facilitate national technical industry & export opportunities but must import to export Lower the risk of hazardous substances Governments wish to encourage and facilitate the growth of their national industries. But they also recognise that, today, without importation there can be no exportation, at least for technical products. Governments are also concerned with issues such as hazardous substances in imported goods, and are themselves sometimes customers with regard to purchase of electronic products such as defense items. IECQ certification in such areas as hazardous substances and defence equipment provide the assurance and confidence needed by governments. IECQ System a value proposition Benefits to the General Public
Better safer world Safer flying Safer driving Better electronic equipment IECQ helps consumers live in a better and safer world. For those who fly around the globe, air travel is the safest form of transport, due, in no small part and in a growing sense, to the IECQ suppliers certification in the avionics sector. The assurance provided by IECQ certification of suppliers to the automotive industry means that new and replacement electronic parts in road vehicles make our cars safer, with higher performance and longer endurance. And, of course, the general public benefits from the IECQ suppliers certification through the use of everyday consumer electronics, LED lighting, and so on. Benefits to Developing Countries Benefits to Lower risk of hazardous substances in imported electronic goods Export opportunities for qualifying suppliers IECQ certification offers indirect benefits to developing countries. The risk of hazardous substances in imported components and electronic goods is significantly reduced due to the IECQ HSPM scheme. IECQ supplier qualification also offers worldwide recognition of supplier competency and quality, providing potential export opportunities for appropriate companies within the country. The risk of imported low quality product dumping is almost eliminated for electronic goods produced under an IECQ supplier qualification regime. Lower risk of product dumping IEC e-Learning module M /11
